On April 10, invited by the School of Public Administration, Professor Wang Mingsheng, the Adjunct Professor of SCUT, led the MPA Delegation of the Research Institute of Public Affair Management of National Sun Yat-sen University (Kaohsiung) to pay the second-time academic visit to SPA-SCUT. On the afternoon, the representative of the MPA students from two universities held an academic forum at NO.5 building; and the leaders of Graduate Student Cultivation Office and School of Public Administration also attended the forum.
During the welcoming ceremony, the official of the Graduate Student Cultivation Office expressed warm welcome to the visiting students and teachers on behalf of SCUT. The leader of the School of Public Administration introduced the basic information of the school and its development process, especially the innovation of MPA graduate cultivation mode in SCUT. Professor Wang Mingsheng also presented an introduction about the development and construction of MPA program in Taiwan and gave an evaluation for the mutual exchange with high praise; furthermore, he offered several suggestions concerning further cooperation and exchanges between the two parts.
After the ceremony, the MPA students from two universities pursued a series of warm and friendly group discussion with topics on cross-strait relations, urban management, public policy, HR management in public sector, social security of common interests, respectively.
It is reported that the academic exchange with Taiwan MPA students is an important activity undertaken by SPA-SCUT in response to the university’s calling for the cultivation of international talents and expanding the international academic exchanges. After nearly 8-year development, the MPA program of SCUT has gradually grown to be one of the most influential brands of the vocational training for public sector. Presently, SPA-SCUT has established a stable and sustainable faculty & student exchange visiting system with National Sun Yat-sen University (Kaohsiung). In addition, more joint programs and academic links with universities home and abroad are also in a steady progress.
