The Dean of School of Humanities and Social Sciences of University of New South Wales visited SPA-SCUT

On the October 30, Professor David Lovell, The Dean of School of Humanities and Social Sciences of University of New South Wales paid a working visit to SPA-SCUT. The head of Graduate School Prof. Zhong LI, the Deputy-Dean Prof. Xu FAN, the International Coordinator Dr. Feng YU of SPA-SCUT met the guests and pursued a friendly official exchange on the mutual collaboration.

During the exchange, the leaders concerned of SCUT expressed warm welcome to Dean Professor Lovell, and hoped that both parties could continue to strengthen cooperation in related fields. Then the head of School of Public Administration made a brief introduction about SPA-SCUT and put forward some plans of cooperation in different levels including the student exchange, joint Master Program etc. Dean Professor Lovell firstly reclaimed UNSW’s positive willing of building up academic collaboration with SCUT, and then introduced the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of University of UNSW, the CSC Scholarship Program and currently attained cooperation progress with high expectation of signing the official agreement in the middle of this year. Subsequently, the two parts reached a preliminary intention on the two schools carrying out joint Master Program and faculty exchange. Lastly, the Dean Professor Lovell exchanged with some students who were interested in the UNSW and expressed that he would like to deliver a speech for SPA-SCUT at the proper time in future.

UNSW is well known as one of Australia’s Group of Eight (Go8) research-intensive universities. It is reported that UNSW ranked in the top 100 universities in the world (52nd, 2012 QS Rankings; 85th 2012-13 Times Higher Education ranking) and it is one of the important partnered Universities of SCUT. It is expected that the UNSW’s visit will further promote the cooperation in the near future.
