On the evening of Apr. 2, 2014, Lecture 31 of PMT (Public Management Tribune) was held at Room 107 of Building 5 in SCUT North Campus. Dean Prof. WU Kechang, Deputy Party Secretary LIU Zhiyan, teacher representatives, and some undergraduate & graduate students attended the lecture. The lecture started at 7:00 p.m. Prof. WU Jin’ an introduced the population distribution of Taiwan and started his lecture from the history of Taiwan after the Nationalist Party retreated to it. By comparing the administrative program and construction achievements of two generations of leaders, namely Chiang Kai-shek and Chiang Ching-kuo, Prof. WU dissected the progress of Taiwan’s social modernization and showed the experience drew from it by displaying instances of failure or success. A series of pictures and stories vividly demonstrated local customs and social changes in Taiwan. Finally, Prof. WU concluded the speech with an excellent poem: “When transplant the green rice seedlings in paddy field, lower your head, you can see the sky reflected in the water. Enlightenment only comes when you are free from human desires and passions, when you finally realize that to step back is also making progress.”

At the Q&A stage, the audience expressed their special interests on the current events. Prof. WU shared his viewpoints on the heated discussions about "tea egg" and the Student Movement in Taiwan. The audience were greatly convinced by his humorous but profound answers and echoed with warm applause.
