Red phoenix flower in the SCTU campus welcomed a new class of graduates in May, while good news came from the United States on the other side of the ocean. 27 SCUT students of 2012 class have successfully completed their study and 13 of them won the title of outstanding graduates at SCTU’s American partner universities.
Students in this 2+2 program went to the major universities in the United States by taking part in the project of Sino-US cooperative projects at SCTU. Among them, Zhao Xinqi and Ren Zhaoqian who took part in 2+2 program of journalism and communication won the title of outstanding graduates of the University of Missouri and were invited to become members of a famous American college honor society in journalism and mass communication (Kappa Tau Alpha). The honor society has a wide influence in American journalism and its requirements for joiningthe membership are very strict. Their approved membership reflects the two students’ outstanding performance. A student named Li Yin who majors in inbusiness administration graduated as a first-class honor student from Rutgers University and was awarded the highest honor award by Rutgers Business School.
According to the reports, the Sino-US Innovation College between SCUT-RU has launched export-oriented talent experimental class projects in tourism management and public administration since 2011 and added new projects in journalism & communication and business management since 2012. The SCUT and major foreign partner universities jointly develop training programs. After completing all course work required by both universities and meeting the requirements for graduation and degree granting, students can obtain a bachelor degree from both SCUT and its foreign partner university. SCUT has six foreign partner universities, including Rutgers University, University of Missouri and Purdue University. Until this year, four majors in this project have sent a total of 151 students to study in the United States.
