SCET juniors of Engineering Mechanics Innovation Class were warmly welcomed by Guangdong Provincial Academy of Building Research (GPABR) when the undergraduates having their internship there on Dec.31, 2014.The students knew more about the cutting-edge science and technology after listening to the reports made GPABR staffs, which included Introduction of Scientific Research and Business of GPABR, Application of Energy-saving Building Technology, and Technology Overview of Wind Engineering for Buildings.
Then, the students visited China's first wind tunnel laboratory which has been used in the design of buildings. Various dazzling models for major projects there helped students have a better understanding of engineering design. The visit of Jianke Mansion, a green building earning Green Design Building Label (3-Star), got students interested in the efforts of saving energy and environment protection, such as photovoltaic technology, water recycling technology, ventilation system design, noise reduction and insulation technology.
Students were impressed by the new technology applied in buildings."Wind engineering is the key technology to the building safety" "Green building is the example of getting buildings scientific and technological in the future." said on their internship reports.
