Speaker Introduction:
Professor Craig Anderson was born and raised in a small farming community in Utah, USA. He spent many of his early growing up year working on the family farm. He always dreamed of traveling and seeing different parts of the world.
His first travel experience outside of the United States occurred in the mid 1960’s when he lived for two years in Mexico. Since that time he has pursued this dream and has traveled throughout the world.
Craig is a graduate of Utah State University and of Troy State University earning a BA in Spanish and International Relations, and an MA in Counseling & Personnel Guidance. He was commissioned an Officer in the United States Air Force upon graduation in 1971 and has spent 30 years in US Military service. During his Air Force career he has traveled extensively and his boyhood dream is still being fulfilled.
Craig and his wife Kathy have been married for 46 years, have four children and ten grandchildren. They arrived in China in September of 2013 to teach English at South China University of Technology. During the time they have lived in Guangzhou they have traveled to many parts of China visiting the many historic and beautiful cities of the interesting and fascinating country. They have had many wonderful experiences in China and will return to the United States in July with fond memories.
The highlight of Craig’s 10 months in China has been the Chinese Students here at SCUT. They are intelligent, courteous, eager to learn and simply a lot of fun to be with.
Speech Content:
The lecture provides an introduction and brief summary of Professor Anderson’s 30 years of working as an Officer in the US Military. He will briefly talk about his early years of schooling and learning to be a Navigator in the Air Force and about some of the skills and techniques required to conduct In-flight Refueling and show photographs and video clips of how this is accomplished. Video clips will focus on what it feels and looks like to actually be in the Air Refueling Tanker Aircraft as it joints up with a variety of different types of airplanes while airborne. Procedures will be explained and a number of photographs will be used to make the presentation very interesting.
