On the afternoon of October 10, 2023, the Preparatory Committee Meeting of the Ecological Environmental Protection and New Energy Special Committee of the South China University of Technology Bay Area Alumni Development Alliance was successfully held in the conference room 308 of the School of Environment and Energy of South China University of Technology. Huang Yancong, Secretary-General of the South China University of Technology Bay Area Alumni Development Alliance, Zhang Baicheng, Chairman of Guangdong Pearl River Switch Co., Ltd., Tan Mingzhuo, Chairman of Guangdong Huixin Investment Co., Ltd., Sun Shaotang, Chairman of Guangzhou Jinpeng Environmental Protection Engineering Co., Ltd., and 22 outstanding alumni entrepreneurs from 19 enterprises, as well as alumni of South China University of Technology and Yi Songhui, Secretary-General of the Guangdong Environmental Industry Association, He Jianhua, Secretary of the School Party Committee, Zhu Nengwu, Executive Vice Dean, Wu Honghui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and related staff members attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Zhu Nengwu, Executive Vice Dean of the school, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the school, introducing the development of the school and the preparatory process of the special committee. Luo Hanxin, Deputy General Manager of Guangdong Xingbangni Technology Co., Ltd., on behalf of the preparatory committee, explained the drafting of the “Charter of the Ecological Environmental Protection and New Energy Special Committee of the South China University of Technology Bay Area Alumni Development Alliance” and recommended the list of committee organization members, which was discussed by the attendants and eventually passed by vote. Finally, the meeting discussed the related arrangements for the establishment meeting of the special committee. The alumni representatives spoke freely, offering many constructive suggestions on the topics of the forum. Secretary-General Huang Yancong summarized in his speech that the establishment of the special committee will further bring the school and the enterprises closer, enhancing interaction and cooperation between them. He hoped that in the near future, the school will deliver more technological achievements and talents to the enterprises, and the alumni enterprises of South China University of Technology will provide more products and services to society.

The joint establishment of the “Ecological Environmental Protection and New Energy Special Committee of the South China University of Technology Bay Area Alumni Development Alliance” by the School of Environment and Energy of South China University of Technology and the South China University of Technology Bay Area Alumni Development Alliance aims to unite the alumni and enterprises of South China University of Technology engaged in the ecological environmental protection and new energy industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, creating a communication and cooperation platform closely connecting the school with alumni enterprises, providing professional services in the field of ecological environmental protection and new energy for alumni, alumni enterprises, and society, showcasing the expertise of South China University of Technology in the field of environmental and new energy, and promoting the high-quality development of the ecological environmental protection and new energy industry of South China University of Technology. The attending alumni representatives are full of expectations for the establishment of the special committee, expressing their hope that after the establishment of the special committee, the integration of the School of Environment and Energy of South China University of Technology with enterprises in the ecological environmental protection and new energy industry in terms of industry-academia-research collaboration, technological achievement transformation, and talent cultivation will be more efficient.
