Recently, Prof. Hu Yun has published their key research work “Synergetic removal of Pb(II) and dibutyl phthalate mixed pollutants on Bi2O3-TiO2 composite photocatalyst under visible light” in a highly reputed international journal. By using hydrothermal synthesis method, Bi2O3-TiO2 composite photocatalysts were developed. The catalyst was used to remove Pb(II) and degrade refractory organics DBP. The work showed that photoelectron and holes was transferred to different regions of the composites. Their separation largely enhanced the photocatalytic efficiency. Research further suggested that a synergy between the metal reduction rate and the organic oxidation rate effectively promoted the treatment efficiency of complex pollution.
