To effectively remove biologically refractory phosphite from acidic electroplating wastewater, Prof. Feng Chunhua’s team have developed a hybrid electro-flocculation and electro-oxidation process scheme. The ferrous ions released from Fe-anode activated the oxygen gas generated from the metal oxide anode to produce superoxide radicals, which oxide phosphite into phosphate. The letter was precipitated and adsorbed in the solid phase, achieving phosphorus removal. The research work has published in Environmental Science & Technology (2019, 53: 5328-5336).
