June 20th, 2019, at the 22th meeting of International Solid State Ionics, Professor Chen Yan from our school is rewarded the “Young Scientist Award” by the International Society for Solid State Ionics (ISSI).

“Young Scientist Award” was established in 2011 by the ISSI, aim at commending global young researchers (younger than 36) who reach significant achievement in the field of solid state ionics. The award is judged internationally by a jury composed of internationally renowned experts every two years. The candidate will report at the International Ion Conference and the final winner will be selected by the jury. Up to now, this award is one of the most famous awards in the field of solid state ionics. Former winners include the researchers from world-wide famous research institutes of Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Berkeley National Laboratory and Tokyo University of Science. Professor Chen Yan is the first winner from university of China mainland.

Professor Chen Yan is a professor and a Ph.D. tutor from our school, graduated from Peking University with Bachelor's and Master’s degree, and from MIT with Ph.D. degree, who was also selected into National High-level Talent Program “Youth Project”, 2017.She is mainly engaged in the study of the surface interface process of energy materials, using surface analysis methods including scanning probe microscopy and X-ray spectroscopy, systematically study the properties of surface interface of energy materials under extreme conditions (high temperature, atmosphere, bias, radiation damage, etc.) and their reactive mechanisms on the catalytic activity of materials. At present, she has published more than 40 academic papers and has been invited several times to make special guest reports at international conferences.
