In the new era, the Internet and big data have brought constantly innovative thoughts and achievements to education, and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) has become the main form of Internet + higher education. Promoting MOOC will not only further interdisciplinary development, but also to equalize the access to knowledge, realizing high-quality development of education.
SCUT actively promotes the application practices of educational technology modernization. In the Online Education Development Seminar in the New Era in 2018, SCUT won the MOOC + Teaching Practice Award issued by the MOE Research Center for Online Education, and became the first batch of wisdom teaching pilot units. Since the establishment of open online courses in 2015, 71 courses have been listed by now, most of which have been carried out with blending learning and SPOC (Small Private Online Course) in SCUT. In the meanwhile, there are 32 courses in the mainstream online open platform (including MOOC, chaoxing and zhihuishu) operating online and serving the society. Especially, Principals of Hotel Management, taught by Professor Wei Wei, has attracted many students from the whole nation for its informative classes and diversified teaching patterns. And the number of students that select the course is increasing, and this professional course has become the most popular one of Tourism and Hotel Management in MOOC.
